People and charity.

Hello guys,

People have different views towards charity. We learned that yesterday from your opinions about the topic. I found a great listening exercise on the topic. As usual try doing the listening without the tapescript and once you have a good understanding of it, select the text view option.

There's an additional comprehension quiz you can take if you want. And the following question is for you to blog your personal view: What would be a good reason to donate? If you want expand Katia or Paul's answers you free to do it.
Enjoy!
P.S. The picture has nothing to do with the way I taught class yesterday. Just a concidence!

Sometimes I feel something similar when I see people asking for money in the street one never know what is that money used for. A day a friend told me that He knew an orgaqnization that pay people for asking for money I mean that people paid some money to other people and the owner of the organization lived with that money. That person also told me that a person asking for money sometimes earn 50.000 or 60.000 per day and sometimes more that; so, can you imagine how much is that in a month???

Hello everybody, I wanna say today class was great, we learnt many things and we review others.
Also I wanna sorry me becase I felt I didn´t use the right tenses in my presentation and I did many grammar mistakes, I belive it was because I was a little nervous. I´ll try to improve.

Hi guys,
First of all, I think I agree with Margie's view. I try not to give money to people on the street. There are other better ways of helping.

And Nurse Man your presentation was just awesome. The only fact you are able to recognize which structures you did not use is a big step into improving. Keep it up!!

aThanks a lot. It´s true, those exercises like presentation or speaches are a good way to get a higer level, because if we think, the structures we use to talk the majority of times are basic and for good or for bad we handle them, but we´ve to deal with composed tenses and others.
That is the challenge and that is why we are in this course, all we, can comunicate with the level reached in high intermediate (And I dare to say that all we could live in a country where English is spoken, but we wanna get a higer level.

On other hand, about giving money I avoid it, when I was younger I worked at a drink stant and some homeless went to exchange coins, there was an old man (who you saw and produced sorrow), I´m talking about 12 or 13 years ago and that man got 25.000 to 50.000 pesos in a day, obviously he never bought new clothes or changed his "poor look" because it was the trick to get the money.

I know also about some moms who rent their children to ask money in the trafic lights or in the streets, so I don´t use to give money, I try to give food or chlothes when I can, but sometimes you offer food and the homeless become angry.
